Microsoft is getting plenty of press as a result of a Reuters interview with Bob Visse, director of marketing for Microsoft's
MSN Internet services division. In the interview, Visse said that Microsoft was making significant investments in developing a better search engine, and specifically referred to Google as a competitor.

"PALO ALTO, Calif. (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp., the world's No. 1 software maker, Wednesday said it is taking aim at privately held Google Inc., the Web-search company that's so popular its name is used as a verb."
Google is also making news on its own today, without the help of Microsoft. Several news sources have run stories stating that Google has signed an agreement with Amazon.com to provide its search results and sponsored links (AdWords) to Amazon.com.
Add yet another company to Google's current list of Adwords partners, which already includes
AOL, Ask Jeeves, Netscape, Earthlink, Compuserve, AT&T, BizRate, DealTime, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Yahoo! JAPAN, Libero, NEC Biglobe, NIFTY, BT Openworld, and SportsLine.com.
