The
AP submitted a series of random querries to Alltheweb,
AOL, AltaVista, AskJeeves, Google, Hotbot, Looksmart, Lycos,
MSN, Overture, Netscape, and Yahoo! during the week of July 11, to determine whether or not the search engines had made any changes to comply with the
FTC's recommendations. They conclude that "all but one [Google] of the surveyed search engines will have to make revisions to meet the
FTC's guidelines."

The
speculation over whether or not Yahoo! and Google will renew their deal whereby Google provides search engine results to Yahoo! when an exact match for a phrase is not found in the Yahoo! directory will continue. Today, Yahoo! announced that they have extended their deal with Google until the end of September.
