OAK PARK, Ill. (September 20, 2006) - Three years ago, James Heckman decided to give search engine optimization a try. As director, Internet communications at the American Marketing Association (AMA), he was responsible for their successful Web site, Marketing Power. When the site wasn't performing as well as expected in the search engines, Heckman became concerned about lost opportunities.
Then he brought in Oak Park, Ill.-based firm Mir Internet Marketing, for what became an extremely successful optimization program, elevating the AMA's site to the top of searches on leading search engines and increasing traffic to MarketingPower.com more then tenfold.
The firm's performance so impressed Heckman that he's joined Mir as the company's new vice president of marketing. In his new position, Heckman will oversee strategy, Internet content, advertising, public relations and client relations for Mir, including its subsidiaries SEO Logic and TherapistFinder.net.

A skilled Internet marketing expert and manager, Heckman brings more than 10 years of marketing experience to the company. Prior to joining Mir, he was the director, Internet communications for the AMA, one of the country's largest professional associations for marketers. During his tenure at the AMA, Heckman managed Internet content, new product development and technical development of the association's Web site - MarketingPower.com - and led several successful marketing initiatives for the association to make the site's content more accessible to its members. His many achievements include the development of the Marketing Careers Network, a consortium of job boards from leading marketing associations, and developing several online and e-mail based marketing programs that yielded 30-40 percent revenue growth for the job board over a three- year period.
