There are many directories and search engines out there which call themselves "family-friendly," "child-friendly," or "child-safe." For many of them, that simply means they that do not list "adult" content, but in all other ways are just like standard web directories. In our opinion, simply not listing adult content does not make a directory or search engine family-friendly or child-safe. The directories below were selected because they are focused exclusively on kids sites, sites that appeal to children.

Open Directory - Kids and Teens - It's the Open Directory, so you know that it's comprehensive. The Kids and Teens directory organizes sites by topic and tags each listing with a note specifying whether the site is appropriate for Kids, Teens, Mature Teens, or any combination of the three. FamilySeek - Search engine and directory of approximately 500 kids sites. To add your site, first use the search engine to search for sites similar to yours, then click on the link which says "related" in the search results. That link will take you to the appropriate category in the Family Seek directory. From there, click "Suggest a Site" in the left hand column to add your site. |
